Miami Heat vs. Philadelphia 76ers Takeaways: Jaime Jaquez Jr. Showcases His Potential

The Miami Heat came out victorious on Christmas against the Philadelphia 76ers, 119-113.

Here's a look at five major takeaways:

1. Jaime Jaquez Jr. showcased his potential.

Jaquez is one of the NBA's most exhilarating rookies who had the best outing of his young career. He concluded the game with 31 points, 10 rebounds, and two steals on 73.3 percent shooting. If it weren't for the presence of generational talents in competition with him, Jaquez would stand as a strong contender for the Rookie of the Year award.

2. Tyrese Maxey is not ready to act as a No. 1 option.

Without center Joel Embiid alongside him, Maxey struggled in all aspects. He finished the game with 12 points and five assists on 4 of 20 shooting. He is one of the league's most improved players this season but is inexperienced as the top option.

3. Bam Adebayo was a force on both ends of the floor.

Jaquez's performance overshadowed Adebayo's, but it was noteworthy none the less. He scored 26 points along with 15 rebounds, five assists, and three blocks on 60 percent shooting. The Miami center, along with Tyler Herro recorded a team-high four turnovers. Philadelphia big man Mo Bamba scored 18 points, but much of his production came with Adebayo on the bench.

4. Philadelphia cannot compete without Embiid.

It is nearly impossible for a team to contend without its top player. In the 76ers case it's the reigning MVP who is averaging 40.2 points in December. In the absence of Embiid, the Sixers were able to sustain mediocre production on offense. However, they lacked the threat his presence provides on both ends.

5. Herro displayed efficiency struggles.

After multiple impressive performances, Herro had an off night. He concluded the night with 22 points, six rebounds, and five assists. However, he did so on 32 percent shooting and 4 of 11 shooting from three-point range.
