The road trip began with the Miami Heat hoping to avoid last year's slow start.

It ended with them now worried if the injury bug would hit them once again this season. The Heat defeated the Memphis Grizzlies Wednesday, but it was bittersweet with guard Tyler Herro sustaining an ankle injury in the first quarter.

He missed the remaining, finishing with six points, two assists, one rebound and one steal in eight minutes. He limped off the court after landing on Grizzlies' center Jared Jackson's foot while driving to the basket.

"It's a sprained ankle," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. "That's what we know right now."

The Heat will continue to evaluate him throughout the road trip.

The injury comes after a strong start to the season by Herro. He was averaging a career-high 25.3 points, 5.6 rebounds and five assists. It appeared he was on the way to a redemption season after missing most of last postseason during the playoffs a year ago.

The Heat play at the Atlanta Hawks Saturday at State Farm Arena. Tip-off is 7:30 p.m.
