After their disappointing fourth place finish in the FIBA World Cup, Team USA could be composing a roster of multiple first-ballot Hall of Famer for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania and Joe Vardon, LeBron James wants to represent Team USA and has spoken to Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Anthony Davis, Jayson Tatum, and Draymond Green and is prepared to commit as well. Meanwhile, Devin Booker, Damian Lillard, De’Aaron Fox, and Kyrie Irving have shown serious interest.

Among all of these players, one name left off the list is Miami Heat superstar Jimmy Butler. Considering his ties to Team USA it comes as a surprise to not be seen in this company. He was a part of the team who won gold at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Butler is known for soaking up the offseason by traveling, playing cards, and watching tennis. So it is a possibility he decides against the team up in order to enjoy his summer. However, if he decides to play, his hard-working mentality would be a valuable asset.

This could be viewed as a “last dance” for many players including James, Curry, and even Butler who may retire before the 2028 season.
