Should Josh Richardson Start Over Kyle Lowry At Point Guard For The Miami Heat?

In this story:
The Miami Heat should consider other options at the point guard position because of veteran Kyle Lowry’s recent struggles.
Through the first four games, Lowry has scored more than 10 points once while going scoreless in the Heat’s opening game against the Detroit Pistons. Miami’s best option to replace Lowry is two-way guard Josh Richardson.
Richardson made his debut on Monday night against the Milwaukee Bucks. He appeared rusty on the defensive end but scored six points along with three rebounds and two assists.
“I've been wanting to play for a minute, been itching to play. So being able to be out there with the guys was good,” Richardson said. “But wish we could’ve got a win, but I think we showed good signs.”
If Lowry's lack of offensive contribution continues, he may lose his starting job. At 37 years old, Lowry is a fringe Hall of Famer. He helped the Toronto Raptors win an NBA championship in 2019 with the help of Kawhi Leonard. Lowry ranks second-all-time among the Raptors' scoring leaders at 10,540 points.
Richardson sat out the first three games of the season because of a foot injury.
“It's important; sitting at 1-3 we not where we wanna be at. But you gotta go get it,” Richardson said. “We have a few games at home where we can play in front of our home crowd and play off their energy, so hopefully we can capitalize.”
