What Are The Miami Heat’s Playoff Expectations In The Upcoming Season?

In this story:
With the regular season approaching, postseason expectations for each team begin to build. Potentially none higher than for the Miami Heat.
After reaching the NBA Finals twice in the past four years, the Heat are hoping to get over the hump. Miami has not won a championship since the Big Three era in 2013, with LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh.
Despite previous success, Miami is entering the season with essentially the same core for the fifth straight year. Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo proved themselves as a dominant duo but are still missing the final piece.
Last season, Miami entered the postseason as the No. 8 seed. They went on an improbable run before their defeat to the Denver Nuggets in the Finals. Losing key contributors Gabe Vincent and Max Strus will prove to impact their success.
The biggest positive for the Heat’s championship aspirations is the return of Tyler Herro. Herro missed nearly all of the playoffs after sustaining a broken hand in Game 1 against the Milwaukee Bucks. His scoring could have aided Miami against the Nuggets.
Heat fans were hoping that superstar guard Damian Lillard could act as the missing piece. Three months after Lillard’s trade request to the Heat, he was moved to the Bucks in a three-team deal.
Losing Vincent, Strus, and Lillard should lower expectations, but the past four years proved to never count out the Heat.
