How Crucial Is The Miami Heat’s Weak Point Guard Rotation?

In this story:
The Miami Heat’s biggest critique after missing out on Milwaukee Bucks superstar Damian Lillard is the lack of talent at point guard.
Coming off an NBA Finals appearance, some believe this is crucial to their success in the upcoming season. Miami is expected to roll out Kyle Lowry, Dru Smith, and Josh Richardson at point guard.
But will this impact their championship aspirations?
Last season, Lowry began the season as the starter but was later replaced by Gabe Vincent. Despite them being listed at the point guard position, Jimmy Butler, Tyler Herro, and even center Bam Adebayo were seen bringing up the ball.
The Heat may decide to start Herro, Richardson, Butler, Kevin Love, and Adebayo on opening night. If so, Herro, Butler, and Richardson will split the time. On the fastbreak, players will look to find Butler to push the pace.
Although Miami is not known for their playmaking, the ‘Heat culture’ does not support selfish play. Even sharpshooters Duncan Robinson and Max Strus are not afraid to make the extra pass.
The Heat will play their regular season opener on October 25 against the Detroit Pistons. Entering this game, the team’s concern is injuries rather than a lack of playmaking. Players such as Caleb Martin, Haywood Highsmith, and Jaime Jaquez Jr. are questionable for Tuesday’s game.
