Mock Trade: The Next Move After Selecting Brandon Miller at No. 2

In this story:
With Charlotte's current roster situation, I don't expect any "blockbuster" trades on draft night.
GM Mitch Kupchak is clearly interested to see this roster healthier, another year older, and all playing together with the addition of some premier talent from the draft. The other key factor is some of Charlotte's most enticing trade pieces, Miles Bridges and PJ Washington, are restricted free agents who can't be traded on draft night. With that said, I scoured the trade machine for a potential draft night trade in the event that Charlotte drafts Brandon Miller at No. 2.
Hayward to Dallas
The Mavericks are in a desperate hunt for wings this off-season but have very few assets to make it happen. The 10th pick in this year's draft is on the market and I'm sure they will be targeting a more reliable contributor than Hayward. However, combine the addition of Hayward with moving off Davis Bertans' money and it becomes more interesting. In this scenario, Dallas receives an early 2nd round pick, an area of the draft they have been prioritizing with workout candidates.
For Charlotte, this move would require some front office patience, in that case maybe it's a complete non-starter. Nevertheless, if the Hornets were to draft Miller and bring back Bridges, Hayward could be viewed as surplus to requirements and moved on. Taking on Bertan's negative money doesn't hurt Charlotte's financial flexibility too much, the Hornets project to be over the cap for the next two years anyway so he doesn't take up any CAP space. Plus, having an A+ shooter at the PF/C position isn't something Charlotte has and could have some usefulness in particular scenarios. The good news is Bertans has just $5 million guaranteed for 23-24, so it is easily waivable for a small cap hit.
The 10th pick is the clear prize of this move, I would eye up a guard to pair with Miller. Maybe Anthony Black and Cason Wallace would be my targets. Overall, this move would likely impact Charlotte's competitiveness this season but set them up in a very strong position in the future.
