In this story:

It's time for the Charlotte Hornets to cut ties with Miles Bridges, plain and simple.

Wednesday, a report surfaced that a criminal summons had been issued to the Hornets' star for "unlawfully and willfully did knowingly violate a valid protective order". According to the arrest warrant, Bridges threatened his ex-partner during a custody exchange, threw pool table balls at her vehicle (smashed windshield and dents on car), and threatened the victim that if she told the police he would take everything from her and withhold child support.

In addition to the protective order violation, Bridges also has a misdemeanor for child abuse. Per the warrant, "The physical injury inflicted caused Created a substantial risk of physical injury, upon or to such child by other than accidental means by throwing pool balls at their mother's vehicle while the children were inside the car. The vehicle window was smashed. Allowed his current girlfriend to yell, scream, and kick the victims' car while the children were in the car, and was inflicted by other than accidental means."

Miles Bridges Reportedly Served Arrest Warrant Due to Shocking Incident with Ex-Partner

This situation comes a little over a year after Bridges turned himself in to the Los Angeles Police Department for a felony of domestic violence. As a result, Bridges did not play a single game in the 2022-23 season. This offseason, the NBA announced that because he sat out all of last year, they would credit that as part of his suspension being served but would still be required to miss the first ten games of the 2023-24 campaign.

Bridges signed his $7.9 million qualifying offer to return to Charlotte on a one-year deal. In July he spoke with the media for the first time since all of the off-court trouble transpired and provided an apology.

“I want to apologize to everybody for the pain and embarrassment that I have caused everyone, especially my family,” Bridges said. “This year away I’ve used to prioritize going to therapy and becoming the best person I can be — someone that my family and everyone here can be proud of.”

Miles Bridges Turns Himself in to Lincoln County Authorities

Friday morning, Bridges turned himself in to local authorities. What does this mean about his status with the team? We're unsure at the moment as the Hornets have yet to provide a statement on the matter.

If I'm sitting in Mitch Kupchak's chair, this is the end of the line. Bridges was fortunate to even receive a second chance in the NBA and he wasted it. You can't continue to give second and third chances and expect something to change. Charlotte's new ownership, alongside Kupchak, has a big decision to make.
