Salt Lake City, Utah - From the opening moments against the Hornets, it would be easy to question if the Jazz desire was where it needed to be. Going down 11-2 and at one point in the first quarter being down by 12, the game definitely wasn’t what anyone was expecting out of this team. In typical Jazz fashion, the team would chip away, pull ahead, and never look back, taking down the Hornets 138-121.

A late first quarter momentum swing led the Jazz to go on a 7-0 run to begin the second. Three pointers were falling once again for the Jazz as they would go on to lead by as many as eighteen in the second quarter.

The story of the night was between Bojan Bogdanovic and Donovan Mitchell. Mitchell was scoreless until halfway through the second quarter. He drove through the lane and scored on a layup over Cody Zeller for his first points of the game. He would heat up significantly, going on to score 30 points.

Bogdanovic scorched the nets from three-point range during the matchup. At one point, he scored fourteen points in a row for the Jazz helping them to extend their lead by as many as twenty-six in the second half. Bogdanovic would go on to score 31-points.

Utah’s bench also played a crucial role in the game against Charlotte, outscoring the Hornets 40-28. Unfortunately for the Jazz though, Mike Conley would leave halfway through the third quarter with a hamstring injury. With no update on the severity of the injury after the game, there are many questions to whether he will be back healthy for the game against the Pacers on Sunday night.

Next up for the Utah Jazz is the Indiana Pacers. The game will take place on Sunday, February 7 at 11am in the Bankers Life Fieldhouse. The matchup can be seen on AT&T Sportsnet as well as NBA League Pass. Jazz listeners can also tune into David Locke and Ron Boone’s radio broadcast on 1280 The Zone or 97.5 FM.
