Keyonte George Provides Optimism in Jazz's 12th-Straight Loss

The Utah Jazz rookie showed out in the 110-118 loss vs. the Golden State Warriors.

Even without the services of Stephen Curry, the Golden State Warriors took care of business on Monday night when they came out on top against the Utah Jazz, 110-118. It was Utah's 12th-straight loss, which pushed the tank forward down their final stretch of the season.

However, even with this historic streak continuing, it wasn't all bad for the Jazz. We saw rookie guard Keyonte George put forth one of his best efforts of the season, as he dropped 25 points, two rebounds, and one assist on 50.0/36.4/100 splits for the night.

George, as well as Johnny Juzang (27 points, two rebounds, one assist), were some pleasant bright spots on the night, but it wasn't enough to overcome a vintage Klay Thompson performance, one where he came out with 32 points on six threes. Jonathan Kuminga also showed up for a double-double off the bench worth 21 points and 10 rebounds.

Without Lauri Markkanen, Jordan Clarkson, or John Collins in the lineup, someone else in the Jazz rotation needed to step up on the offensive side of the ball, and it inevitably ended up being Keyonte and Juzang. For George, this ties his 6th-highest point total of the season, coming up a bit short of his previous mark against the Warriors when he posted 33 in February.

Since passing the All-Star break, George has continued to be a solid contributor offensively, averaging 15.5 points and 4.8 assists. While the efficiency has remained up and down during that stretch (37.8/39.6/93.0), games like these prove that potential is there to be a consistent and high-level NBA guard in due time.

Keyonte will have the chance to build on his most recent showing when the Jazz face off against the Denver Nuggets at the Delta Center on Tuesday.
