Predicting The Kings Leaders in 5 Major Stats for 2026-27 Season

In this story:
The Sacramento Kings enter the 2026-27 season with a lot of questions, but their main rotation is starting to take shape as the offseason winds down. With that said, let's look ahead and try and predict who will lead each of the five major stat categories for the Kings in the upcoming season.
Points
There are a few possibilities for the Kings' scoring leader next season. Will it be Domantas Sabonis as he returns from injury, Zach LaVine as he takes on the main scoring role with DeMar DeRozan's departure, or Darius Acuff Jr. coming in as a rookie and leading the charge right away?
Sabonis has generally hovered around the 18-19 points per game mark over his career, and LaVine's role and future with the Kings is still up in the air. So the nod goes to Acuff as he gets the keys to the kingdom in his rookie year.
26 POINTS for Darius Acuff Jr. 😳

He may not have the efficiency to get there easily, but the seventh overall pick should have the volume to propel himself to the top of the Kings' scoring list.
Prediction: Darius Acuff Jr. - 22.4 points per game
Rebounds
Much easier to predict than points, Sabonis should lead the Kings in rebounding by a wide margin. He's not only Kings best rebounder, but arguably the best in the league. He led the association in rebounding for three straight seasons before his injured season last year, and should pick up right where he left off as he gets back on the court.
Prediction: Domantas Sabonis - 12.5 rebounds per game
Assists - Domantas Sabonis

Getting to the hardest stat of the five to predict. Scoring was difficult without knowing roles, but assists feel like a true toss-up between Sabonis and Acuff. Acuff already showed his passing skills and potential in college and Summer League, and there have been murmurs around the organization that he could easily approach double-digit assists.
But Sabonis will be working to get his trade value up, and getting back to his role as the Kings' main facilitator while Acuff takes on more of the scoring load seems like the best way to do it. His passing ability, along with his elite rebounding, is what has made him so special throughout his tenured NBA career.
Ultimately, the nod goes to Sabonis for assists, but expect Acuff to be right on his heels as the number two facilitator on the team.
Prediction: Domantas Sabonis - 7.8 assists per game
Steals
It feels like the only thing keeping this from being a slam dunk pick is the questions around Emanuel Sharp's playing time. He's coming into the year as a second-round pick with multiple players around him competing for minutes at the two-guard spot.
Sharp improving as a playmaker would help him get more time as the backup point guard and get more minutes, but at the end of the day, it's his defense and three-point shooting that are his calling cards.
Keegan Murray and Nique Clifford could end up being the leaders here with more minutes on the court, but Sharp's defensive potential can't be ignored heading into the season.
Prediction: Emanuel Sharp - 1.5 steals per game
Blocks

Unlike Sharp, Dylan Cardwell likely won't need major minutes to lead the team in blocks. Defending the rim is his forte, and he should only improve as he gains more NBA experience. Cardwell led the Kings last year with 67 total blocks despite playing the 9th most minutes (907).
The center rotation is one of the biggest question marks going into the season, but if anything, Cardwell could be an even better fit next to Sabonis than Raynaud, and see more time on the court than fellow sophomore big Maxime Raynaud. But even if that's not the case, set this one in stone for Cardwell leading the Kings in blocks.
Prediction: Dylan Cardwell - 1.8 blocks per game
