Knicks Trade Rumors: Raptors' OG Anunoby 'Fits Perfectly'

OG Anunoby could be traded by the Toronto Raptors to the New York Knicks.

The New York Knicks have made somewhat of a splash in free agency by signing Donte DiVincenzo away from the Golden State Warriors, but there's reason to believe a bigger move could be coming down the line.

Toronto Raptors forward OG Anunoby is reportedly on the trade block, and his new affiliation with the Creative Artists Agency, which formerly hired Knicks president Leon Rose as an agent, could lead to him moving from north of the border to Manhattan.

“As we all know CAA and the Knicks are basically locked at the hip," Zach Braziller of the New York Post says. "So I think OG Anunoby is obviously a name to watch. I think he would fit perfectly here, he’s a big wing, he’s a really good defender, good three-point shooter. Now the question is what’s it going take to make that happen? Is Toronto going to be looking to move him?”

The Indiana alum, who turns 26 later this month, is due $18.6 million next season and has a $20 million player option for 2024-25, which means the Raptors could very well look for a trade for him before he has the chance to walk away in free agency without any return.

Anunoby averaged 16.8 points and five rebounds per game this past season while shooting over 38 percent from beyond the three-point line, but his defense is where he makes his money. The seventh-year man was a member of the All-NBA Defensive Second Team this season and has the potential to grow as he embarks on his late 20s.

The Knicks would benefit tremendously from Anunoby, but it will cost them. That being said, New York has a bevy of future picks it can deal to Toronto in any trade.  That makes them one of the more attractive destinations for Anunoby's services.
