Knicks' Summer League Roster Revealed; Who's Going to Vegas?

New York Knicks prospects will look to build upon a runner-up finish in last year's Las Vegas Summer League festivities later this week.

The New York Knicks' roster for the upcoming Summer League slate has been revealed, a group headlined by fourth-year veteran Isaiah Roby.

Notably absent is undrafted rookie Jacob Toppin, the younger brother of the recently-traded Obi who signed a two-way deal with the Knicks shortly after the NBA Draft. Per SNY's Ian Begley, Jacob is dealing with a "minor injury" that will keep him out of the Sin City action.

New York's prospects are looking to build upon a runner-up finish in last year's Summer League competition, an effort overseen by Quentin Grimes, who played that success into a role in the Knicks' starting five. New York went 3-2 in last year's competition and was invited to partake in the championship finale, where they eventually fell to the Portland Trail Blazers.

Retained from that team are DaQuan Jeffries and Trevor Keels, each of whom spent time on and off the Knicks' main roster. Keels, the Knicks' second-round pick from the 2022 draft, was second on the team with an average of 4.6 rebounds over five games. Also back in the Knicks' organization is Dmytro Skapintsev, a Ukrainian-born center who played 15 games with the team's G League affiliate based in Westchester.

Roby is far and away the most experienced player on the team with 151 NBA games to his name. That includes 42 with the San Antonio Spurs last season, averaging 4.1 points and 2.5 rebounds in just over 11 minutes a game. Originally entering the league with Oklahoma City in 2019, Roby was signed by the Knicks on the last day of the 2022-23 regular season. As a power forward, his role could expand with the Knicks set to trade Obi Toppin to Indiana.

The Knicks' five-game Summer League slate tips off on Saturday late afternoon against the Philadelphia 76ers' prospects at Cox Pavilion (5 p.m. ET, MSG/NBA TV).
