Once the final buzzer sounded on the 2022-2023 Los Angeles Lakers season, the rumor mill began to swirl. It's clear that the team needs to make some upgrades to the roster, even if it's just around the edges to give LeBron James and Anthony Davis more help. Enter in a guy that James is all too familiar with.

According to Lakers insider Johan Buva, the team could have interest in Denver Nuggets forward Jeff Green this offseason. Green is currently playing in the NBA Finals against the Miami Heat, and previously suited up alongside James in another Finals during one of his stops with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Additionally, the Lakers got an up close view of Green in their Western Conference Finals loss. Green has been all over the place within the NBA and the veteran likely doesn't have many more playing years left. His priority will be to join a team contending for a title and the Lakers fit that bill.

"Green fared reasonably well against the Lakers as a center in the Western Conference finals – and would provide the requisite floor-spacing around James and Davis that Los Angeles needs from its frontcourt players."

Green could give Los Angeles a savvy, cost-effective big, who could be signed at or near a veteran's minimum, that could spread things out, while also giving them someone who can play effective defense as well. It could help take some of the defensive load off James and Green won't play himself off the floor offensively, much like Jarred Vanderbilt did over the course of the postseason.

Green could be an interesting option for the Lakers this offseason as they look to build a team with the ability to hoist up banner 18.
