Lakers News: LeBron James Turns Back the Clock for Kobe Bryant’s Birthday

2 of the best to ever do it!

Even though we never got an NBA Finals showdown between Kobe Bryant and LeBron James, we still got to see them face off against one another on a number of different occasions and both have suited up for the Los Angeles Lakers on separate timelines.

It can definitely be argued that just like Kobe Bryant seemingly took the torch from Michael Jordan as one of the main faces of the league in the 2000's, LeBron James did the same once the 2010's rolled around.

Much like Bryant, James entered the draft right out of high school and learned from a number of teammates and opponents as the early seasons of his career went on. However, he has always credited the Black Mamba for truly showing him what it meant to dedicate every day to improving when the pair joined Team USA in the 2008 olympics.

Wednesday, August 23 marks what would've been the late Bryant's 45th birthday and the basketball community has been active all day on social media sharing pictures, videos and quotes left behind by the Lakers legend. James made sure to show love as well by posting a picture on Instagram of the two shaking hands and sharing an exchange.

James' comments were immediately flooded by users recalling their own favorite moments between the two superstars and proclaiming both of them as two of the game's greatest.

The King has lasted in the league for 20 years now and he's seen so much talent come and go in his time. Bryant was fresh off a three-peat with the Lakers when James first entered the NBA and got to battle against the Akron native multiple times in their primes.

At the end of the day, we are just grateful to know that both of these icons left their mark on the game and that James is carrying on Bryant's legacy now in purple and gold.
