Maybe we'll call him the Bronze Mamba.

Lakers News: Dillon Brooks Compares Himself To LA Great Following FIBA World Cup

Fresh off of beating their North American rivals for the bronze medal at the FIBA World Cup tourney, one very recent Los Angeles Lakers playoff nemesis is beating his chest in celebration after medaling for his nation.

Defeating the Americans in a thrilling third-place game to finish up the international tournament, Houston Rockets forward and Canadian native Dillon Brooks is celebrating his final game at the event with an interesting comparison to a purple and gold legend.

Absurd as comparing an international bronze medal is to an NBA title or even a Finals MVP, Brooks is just the type of lunatic to do such a thing after he foolishly challenged LeBron James in the 2023 NBA playoffs while still with the Grizzlies.

His antics that cost Memphis a victory despite a higher two seed in the series alongside Ja Morant's hand injury led to an eventual six game series victory for LA and his own exit from the franchise under any circumstances.

As impressive as Brooks' performance was against the Americans in a slight bit of revenge for how his Grizzlies tenure ended, both Brooks and Shai Gilgeous Alexander had some consolation for a disappointing finish against Serbia's team without Nikola Jokic.

With a finals appearance in the tourney at stake, the Canadians, similar to Team USA were unable to beat their opponent.

For the Americans it was a loss to the eventual champions in Germany that led to their downfall, but a failure to medal against a Canadian team missing Jamal Murray has to be disappointing for Team USA.

Met with questions about roster cohesion and the lack of usual star talent, an underwhelming conclusion to their rivals across their northern border may spell major changes for Team USA for the 2024 Olympics.
