If there’s one thing the Dallas Mavericks have been consistent with this entire season, it’s that they’re always going to to be inconsistent.

To be completely fair, a lot of that inconsistency has been due to lengthy and untimely injuries throughout the year, but there have been other times where questionable coaching, paired with questionable roster decisions from last summer, have come back to haunt the Mavs as well.

Regardless, the rest of the NBA — and especially the Western Conference, doesn’t care for Dallas’ excuses. The eighth-seeded Mavs are 36-36 with 10 games remaining in the season, and they’ll have a chance to jump ahead of the sixth-seeded Golden State Warriors Wednesday night at American Airlines Center.

Kyrie Irving, who always seems to play well against the Warriors, is still listed as questionable and could end up being a game-time decision with his foot injury that was re-aggravated in Memphis on Monday. Luka Doncic, who has missed four consecutive games due to a thigh strain, has been upgraded to probable, so there is some light at the end of Dallas’ extensive injury tunnel with that news.

On today’s pregame show edition of the Mavs Step Back Podcast, we recap all that went wrong in Dallas’ fourth-quarter collapse against the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday, as well as discuss some of the biggest keys to Wednesday’s game against the Warriors.

Spoiler alert: one of those big keys is coach Jason Kidd giving rookie Jaden Hardy the consistent minutes he deserves.

As always, thanks for listening! Be sure to leave us a review on Apple Podcasts or Spotify for a chance to win future giveaways. Also, be sure to download the Playback app to join our FREE Mavs watch parties for every single game.
