NBA Kicks: Mavs Star Kyrie Irving Reveals Shoe Deal Signing?

In this story:
Dallas Mavericks star point guard Kyrie Irving is a free agent in more ways than one this offseason. He is an NBA free agent on June 30, when the Mavs plan to re-sign him to a long-term contract, and he's also a free agent when it comes to having a sneaker deal.
Irving had been with Nike since his rookie year in 2011, but that partnership ended abruptly in December after he made a post on social media that contained a link to an antisemitic movie. After Nike dropped Irving, he still wore his signature shoes, but he covered up the 'swoosh' with tape that had personally-written messages on it.
It appears that Irving's seven-month shoe deal drought could be coming to an end, as he was seen sporting the Anta Shock Wave Pro 5 at his annual basketball camp last week. Anta, which is a Chinese brand, has a handful of NBA players on its sneaker roster, including Golden State Warriors star Klay Thompson, Chicago Bulls' Alex Caruso and Charlotte Hornets' Gordon Hayward.
"I will be signing my new shoe deal very, very soon. I won’t even call it a shoe deal. I’m about to blow this out the water. I’m so excited about it," Irving said on a recent Instagram Live video.
Whatever Irving wants to call it, the fact of the matter is that he will no longer be on the sneaker free-agency market soon. If the Mavs have it their way, that will be the case in NBA free agency as well, with Irving re-signing in Dallas and continuing to work toward a championship with Luka Doncic.
