LISTEN: Jalen Brunson Fueling Knicks, LeBron James Teaching Dillon Brooks; What's Next for Mavs?

In this story:
The NBA playoffs are starting to heat up with several teams on the cusp of moving onto the second round, including Jalen Brunson's New York Knicks and LeBron James' Los Angeles Lakers. Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks are patiently waiting on the May 16 draft lottery so they'll know which realistic paths to improvement they have this summer.
On this episode of the Mavs Step Back Podcast, we discuss what Brunson's postseason production in New York means for the Mavs, and why it's hard to "just let it go," or "stop talking about it," as some fans say when the topic is brought up. From there, we discuss all the other playoff action going on around the league. Can the Miami Heat pull off a stunner and send the No. 1 seed Milwaukee Bucks packing? Will James' Lakers put the finishing touches on Dillon Brooks and the Memphis Grizzlies?
The Mavs have a lot of work to do if they want to get back to experiencing playoff basketball next season. That work starts with finding out where their pick lands in a few weeks, then all focus will be on trying to re-sign Kyrie Irving. Having two superstars in Luka Doncic and Irving would be a luxury, but adding the correct defensive pieces around them is a tough task owner Mark Cuban and GM Nico Harrison must execute.
Dallas is optimistic of its chances to re-sign Irving, but what are some backup options if things go south? On this episode, we explain why a sign-and-trade with the Philadelphia 76ers might make the most sense in that particular scenario. Also, with Nick Nurse out with the Toronto Raptors, what will happen to Pascal Siakam and O.G. Anunoby? The Mavs should be on the phones finding out.
