Joe Johnson a much better option for Nets than Carmelo Anthony

Big 3 MVP and league champion Joe Johnson will be trying out for three NBA teams this week: Detroit, Milwaukee, and Brooklyn.
The 38-year old spent five seasons with the Nets, and while it seemed he could never live up to the superstar status attached to his mega-contract, the small forward became one of the most clutch performers in franchise history.
When comparing the aging Johnson to Carmelo Anthony, the choice is clear that “Iso Joe” would be a much better fit in Kenny Atkinson’s system.
A prolific scorer in his own right, Johnson is a scoring machine inside the paint and sniper from long range. A much more willing passer and defender than Anthony, Johnson would be more inclined to accept a diminished role coming off the bench playing 10-15 minutes.
Brooklyn made two playoff appearances with Johnson at the helm and won seven playoff contests during that time.
Before last year's playoff push, the Nets last playoff appearance was back in 2015 under head coach Lionel Hollins with fading star Deron Williams, Thaddeus Young, and Johnson leading the charge.
Brooklyn was been starved for a playoff berth after Johnson's departure, and until last season, so while Johnson isn’t exactly the type of player that can tip the playoff meter or put a team over the top, he’d be a steady addition to a Nets squad looking to climb the Eastern Conference rankings.
