The Nets had one of the worst games of the season, losing to the Celtics by 50 points. It was the most recent game of a rough stretch for Brooklyn, but now that they’re on the All-Star break, Nic Claxton believes the team should put that behind them.

It can be challenging to put it behind them, but Nic suggests that they should use it as motivation ahead of the second half of the season.

“We just gotta flush it out, have short-term memory. It’s been disappointing; this season has been pretty season has been disappointing, if we’re being honest. I just think we just gotta have short-term memory and get acclimated with the new guys coming back after the break,” Nic said after the 50-point loss to Boston.

The Nets need a mental reset during the break

Brooklyn’s 2023/24 campaign has not been fun for the players, and this eight-day break will be good for the team. All-Star Weekend has no Nets players in the events, so they won’t have to deal with participating. However, they should have fun and mentally reset from the struggles this season.

Nic makes a great point because having a short-term memory helps the Nets improve. They will just focus on what’s next, which is the goal of getting to the Playoffs. The automatic qualification might be too far with the sixth seed, but Brooklyn still has a big chance with the Play-In Tournament.

Claxton will perform well as he has been doing in the past few months. However, the rest of the team must step up to support him. With the new additions led by Dennis Schroder, this team has the potential to go on a hot streak, and that’s what Nic is expecting after the break.

Nic will be a focal point for the Nets

Nic displayed mental fortitude, even in a tough time after the loss. He is under pressure to perform as the Nets’ starting center and best defender. It will be a challenging couple of months ahead, but Nic is ready to lead Brooklyn into the Play-In.

With other star players like Cameron Thomas and Mikal Bridges, the Nets are promising. The team is healthier now, which will be a big reason they will play much better than the first half of the season.
