Indiana Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle says it's 'very doubtful' anything happens at NBA trade deadline

The NBA trade deadline is in less than 24 hours. Will the Pacers make a trade?

The NBA Trade Deadline is less than 24 hours away. The Indiana Pacers could go a number of different directions in that time, but Rick Carlisle doesn't expect the Pacers to do much.

Carlisle was asked if he feels tension during this time of year and what the trade deadline is like for him. He also discussed what the deadline could entail for the Pacers this season.

"This is, quite simply, a dynamic business. The possibility of being traded is a part of it," Carlisle said. "But the human element is always there. There's always going to be some sensitivity. And to just ignore and just say 'hey, it's part of the business', it's not that simple." The head coach stressed the importance of getting his team through this week, which is full of speculation and rumors.

As for the Pacers specifically, their trade deadline direction is unclear. They could look for upgrades and push for the playoffs, or they could trade away a few pieces and grab assets that will be more helpful in the future. Both paths have merit.

Carlisle got more specific when discussing what deadline week could look like for his team. "If you're asking me if I anticipate anything happening, I always say 'it's very doubtful'," Carlisle detailed.

"We'll try our best to help our guys get through this. But with Myles [Turner's] situation resolved... this is not what it would have been had that not been taken care of," the head coach added. Turner received a contract extension last week.

The Pacers made several trades at the trade deadline last season as they changed directions, but that isn't likely to be the case this year. They could make some smaller moves involving their reserve big men or glut of guards, but nothing is needed for the blue and gold. More will become clear in the coming hours.
