Tyrese Haliburton and Channing Frye debate Jordan Poole's late shot attempt for Golden State Warriors

Haliburton thought Poole made the right decision

With 9.7 seconds to go in Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinal series between the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Lakers, Warriors guard Jordan Poole caught the ball with no defenders around him. With the clock ticking down and Golden State down three, the 23-year old launched a 27-foot three.

He missed it, and the Lakers went on to win 117-112. Had Poole's shot dropped, the game would have been tied, and the Warriors would have pulled off an incredible fourth quarter comeback. But instead, Los Angeles leads the series 1-0.

On the NBA Twitter Live broadcast of the game, Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton was providing commentary on all the action. He was joined by NBA veteran Channing Frye and Taylor Rooks of Turner Sports, both of whom did not like Poole taking that shot from so far away with so much time left on the clock.

Haliburton disagreed in a comical exchange. "What was wrong with that shot?" Haliburton said. He commented on how much space Poole had and how wide open he was. The Pacers guard hit multiple game-winning jumpers late in games this season, so he has expertise with clutch threes.

"I'm not mad at that shot, he's wide open!" Haliburton said while the other two disagreed and were incredulous. "I'm shooting it... I would have shot that too."

Poole, who won a title with the Warriors last season, is averaging 13.1 points per game in the playoffs. He was playing well in that game with 21 points prior to the miss, which has now gone viral.

Haliburton, though, thought it was the right move to take the shot. As did Golden State head coach Steve Kerr

Frye, a former NBA champion himself, disagreed with Haliburton. "That's why you're here with us," he joked. Frye beat the Warriors in the NBA Finals in 2016.

"I'm going to shoot that shot in a playoff game next year," Haliburton replied, in jest.

You can watch the entire exchange below.

The Warriors and Lakers next battle on Thursday night in the Chase Center. Poole and the Warriors will look to even the series.
