Tyrese Haliburton leading Eastern Conference guards in 2024 All-Star fan voting

Haliburton has over one million votes already

The NBA announced the first round of fan voting results for 2024 All-Star starters on Thursday, and Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton received excellent polling numbers.

Haliburton leads all Eastern Conference guards in fan votes. He received 1,380,795 votes, 425,044 more than any other backcourt player in the conference. Milwaukee Bucks star Damian Lillard sits in second place.

Haliburton, Lillard, and Trae Young are the only guards in the East who own more than 625k fan votes so far. Haliburton has more than double that number, so he has a significant advantage over the rest of the field.

The Pacers star is averaging 24.9 points and a league-leading 12.7 assists per game. He recently became the third player in NBA history to have consecutive outings with 20+ points and 20+ assists.

"He just keeps getting better and better and better," Pacers center Myles Turner said of Haliburton last week.

Fan voting began on December 19 and ends on January 20. Per the NBA, Fans account for 50% of the vote to decide All-Star starters. NBA players and a media panel account for 25% each.

Haliburton was an All-Star for the first time last season. He was also named to the All-Tournament team for the In-Season Tournament this campaign. His ascent since being traded to the Pacers has been remarkable.

The 2024 All-Star Game will be held in Indianapolis, so if Haliburton ultimately does reach the event, he will be playing in front of a home crowd. The All-Star game will be going back to East vs West this season, which was announced in Indy early in the season.

"We thought it was time, since we are coming back to such a traditional market as Indianapolis is, and Indiana, and all it means for basketball, that we were going to return to the classic format for our All-Star game," NBA commissioner Adam Silver said in October.

No other Pacers players were in the top 10 in fan votes for either the frontcourt or backcourt group. Big man Myles Turner is the next most likely player to reach the event for the blue and gold, but he is certainly on the outside of the field looking in.

Haliburton, Turner, and the Pacers will look to add to their All-Star cases on Friday when they host Young and the Atlanta Hawks.
