Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton named to All-Tournament Team for In-Season Tournament performance

The Pacers star had many great games during the event

Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton has been named to the NBA In-Season Tournament All-Tournament team.

The All-Tournament team was announced on Monday, and Haliburton is joined by Los Angeles Lakers forwards LeBron James and Anthony Davis as well as Phoenix Suns wing Kevin Durant and Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo on the squad. Haliburton, Antetokounmpo, Davis, and James were all unanimous selections to the team.

20 media members voted on the unit, so Haliburton was named one of the best five players in the tournament by all 20 voters. Durant received seven votes to earn the final spot — New Orleans Pelicans forward Brandon Ingram finished sixth with four votes.

"Obviously, Tyrese Haliburton is now a name that everyone knows, and he's going to be in the conversation for a lot of things from All-Star to All-NBA to MVP, based on not just this tournament but what he's been doing in every single game this year," Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle said after the tournament ended. His team reached the title game but fell to the Los Angeles Lakers.

During his seven In-Season Tournament games, Haliburton averaged 26.7 points and 13.3 assists per game. Indiana went 6-0 during the games in the event that counted as regular season outings before losing to the Lakers.

Haliburton received a vote for MVP of the In-Season Tournament, an honor that ultimately went to James. The Lakers legendary forward posted averages of 26.4 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 7.6 assists per game during the event.

Pacers center Myles Turner also received a vote for the All-Tournament team. Ernie Johnson from TNT gave Turner the nod. Indiana's starting center was solid throughout the event but had a disappointing outing in the title game.

Haliburton deserved the recognition, and he has been excellent all year for the Pacers. He currently sits sixth on the NBA's MVP ladder and could be heading toward more hardware as the season progresses.
