The Indiana Pacers resume their regular season tonight after over a week off for the All-Star break. They host the Detroit Pistons, who currently have the worst record in the NBA but are playing better of late.

Indiana got to recharge over the break and already had two practice sessions this week. They're ready for a strong close to the season, and every game is important for them. The Pacers are in a close race for playoff position in the middle of the Eastern  Conference right now — they can't overlook any opponent, even Detroit.

"Attention to detail with block outs, the desire to go get the ball. Those things are huge," Pacers head coach Rick Carlisle said of a key against Detroit. The Pistons are top 10 in both offensive and defensive rebound rate this season.

Viewing and Betting Information

Tip off time: 7 p.m. Eastern Time

Where to watch: NBA League Pass, Bally Sports Indiana, Bally Sports+, Bally Sports Detroit

Pacers vs Pistons Injury Report

The Pacers listed Aaron Nesmith (right ankle sprain) as out. Jalen Smith is questionable with lower back soreness. Kendall Brown, Oscar Tshiebwe, and Isaiah Wong are questionable due to their status on a two-way contract.

The Pistons listed Malcolm Cazalon, Jared Rhoden, and Stanley Umude as out. Quentin Grimes is doubtful. Isaiah Stewart is questionable. Cade Cunningham is probable.

Key Matchup

Doug McDermott vs Simone Fontecchio: With Nesmith sidelined, the battle of the shooters on the wing becomes more important. The Pacers don't have as big of a talent advantage in this spot now.

Both McDermott and Fontecchio were acquired by their new teams at the trade deadline, and they are both going to be important in this game. Whichever wing makes more shots will have a bigger impact on the result.
