At this point, Washington Wizards forward Kyle Kuzma might be eating his words.

Back in December, the veteran went viral on social media for taking a shot at the Detroit Pistons and the Boston Celtics when the two teams battled it out for a regular season matchup.

At the end of the first half in the game between Boston and Detroit, the Celtics had a significant deficit as they trailed 66-47. Being that the Pistons were in the midst of a historical losing streak, it seemed the Celtics might be the squad to help them climb out of that hole.

Kuzma poked fun at the situation on X, creating a post that garnered 41 million impressions. Unfortunately, the joke is catching up with him, as NBA fans — and now players — are issuing him a constant reality check.

On Thursday, the Houston Rockets hosted the Washington Wizards. Following a game where the Rockets collected a comfortable 135-119 win over Kuzma and the Wizards, Houston veteran Tari Eason took to X to revisit Kuzma’s viral post to poke fun at him.

Months after Kuzma’s shot, the Wizards find themselves at the bottom of the Eastern Conference. With the Pistons holding a 12-54 record, they place one spot above the Wizards, who have just 11 wins at this point in the season.

The Wizards and the Pistons are both eliminated from playoff contention in 2024. Now, they are playing for pride and pick odds. It’s unclear which team will come back better in 2024-2025, but we surely know now that the Wizards and their players certainly don’t have any bragging rights over Detroit at this point in time.
