NBA Trade Rumors: Rockets Acquire Pacers Big Myles Turner?

Myles Turner has been on the Houston Rockets' radar for a while. Could the Indiana Pacers finally trade him?

The Houston Rockets have been in the market for a big man for a very long time. Part of that time has had them linked to Indiana Pacers center Myles Turner.

Even though Turner recently signed an extension, there's still reason to trade him, especially if the Rockets are willing to part with the No. 4 pick.

The Athletic proposed a trade that would send Turner and Buddy Hield to Houston in exchange for Alperen Şengün, Kevin Porter Jr., K.J. Martin, the No. 4 pick in 2023 and a first-round pick in 2025.

"I can’t state what sort of positive impact Turner would have on both ends of the floor, being able to shore up his teammates’ deficiencies and spread the floor for the Rockets’ guards," The Athletic writes. "Houston’s brass is high on Turner for good reason. In addition, the Rockets would get one of the league’s best three-point shooters in the last decade almost as an add-on, with how many rumors have been attached to his name in the last year alone."

This deal is a massive risk, but one that could pay off. Turner would provide much-needed rim protection for a defense that was one of the worst in the league last season.

The risk comes with parting ways with assets like Şengün and the No. 4 pick, both of which could easily have higher ceilings than Turner. It's a price to pay, but if the Rockets are looking to hit the gas on this rebuild, it's a deal worth considering.
