Spurs Fiesta 5: Kawhi Leonard Modeled Game After Carmelo Anthony

Kawhi Leonard looked to mirror his game after Carmelo Anthony while playing for the San Antonio Spurs.

1. KAWHI LIKE MELO "In 2017, I worked with a few guys, but specifically with Kawhi Leonard," Brickley told Emily Austin on The Hoop Chat. "This was before he was an All-Star. He came up to me and was like 'I want to learn Melo's moves.'"

2. MAMU, GEORGIA WINS FIRST FIBA GAME San Antonio Spurs forward Sandro Mamukelashvili is celebrating after an 85-60 win against Cape Verde.

Mamukelasvhili scored 10 points and led the team with a +28 in plus/minus.

After one game, Georgia is tied with Slovenia at the top of Group F. Slovenia defeated Venezuela on Saturday as well.

Mamukelashvili and Georgia will take on Slovenia in their next game on Monday at 6:30 a.m.

3. BETTER DEFENSE COMING? "Pop excused some things last season that normally would have drawn his ire in years past. Cuss words would have been heard on television. Young men wearing Spurs jerseys would have hung their heads in shame. But San Antonio had a plan and in order to see it through no defense was required. At least not elite defense.

"The 2023-24 season will likely be the opposite."

4. WEMBY VS. CHET "ESPN believes it will be a tight race between the pair, but in a poll by experts..."

5. SPURS x HORNS "Newly-minted Hall of Fame coach Gregg Popovich, GM Brian Wright, CEO R.C. Buford, assistants and even legendary player Manu Ginobili sat down with Rodney Terry and Vic Schaefer and both of their respective staffs. The Spurs went there to swap stories, share knowledge, give tips, etc. to a wide eyed Terry who proudly boasted pictures on his Instagram page."
