The San Antonio Spurs travel to the Pacific Northwest to take on the Western Conference rivals Portland Trail Blazers

It was revealed earlier this week that Victor Wembanyama would not play both games in the road back-to-back, but he is available for tonight, meaning Friday will be the game he misses.

Devontae’ Graham and Charles Bassey are the only Spurs listed out, and the Blazers will be without Deandre Ayton and Shaedon Sharpe. Portland rookie Scoot Henderson has claimed that he is still in the hunt for the Rookie of the Year award, despite Wembanyama averaging a double-double, but tonight will be a test of the two rookies who have not matched up since getting drafted.

Follow along for our three best bets for tonight’s matchup below, powered by the lines at SI Sportsbook.

The Lines

Point spread: Trail Blazers -4.5 (-118)/Spurs +4.5 (-110)

Moneyline: Trail Blazers (-200)/Spurs (+150)

Over/under: 235.5

Our Picks

Opponent pick: Scoot Henderson UNDER 12.5 points (-120)

If Henderson could shoot from deep, this would be a lock for the over to hit. The Spurs are horrible at guarding the three-point line, but Henderson only shoots 25 percent from deep. Most of his points and appeal come from attacking the rim, where he will meet one of the NBA’s best rim protectors, Victor Wembanyama. On the perimeter, Jeremy Sochan and Devin Vassell should provide just enough defense to push Henderson into the paint.

Safe pick: Devin Vassell UNDER 20.5 points (-125)

Portland’s defense holds their opponents to the second-worst three-point percentage in the league, at 32.6 percent. When Vassell is on, he’s on, but recently his shooting has been rather streaky, and against a premier perimeter defensive team, Vassell won’t get as many clean looks and won’t be able to go over this suspiciously high line.

Spurs vs. Trail Blazers: 5 Questions Ahead of Matchups

Team pick: UNDER 235.5 points (-110)

The Spurs have the sixth-worst offense in the league, and Portland’s offense is even worse, sitting at the second-worst in the league. Neither team plays great defense, but this line would require both teams to average over 115 points, which is significantly higher than either team puts up. If you think both teams have a better offense than their defense is bad, then maybe take the over, but recent trends suggest neither team will be stuffing the stat sheet.
