NBA Trade Rumors: Blazers SG Shaedon Sharpe to Spurs?

The Portland Trail Blazers could look to trade rookie Shaedon Sharpe if more win-now pieces came their way. Perhaps the San Antonio Spurs could benefit.

The San Antonio Spurs are seeking players who could give the team a foundation to build around.

After the first true year of the Spurs' rebuild, it's time for San Antonio to find its new franchise cornerstone.

"Among all of the Association's rebuilders, the San Antonio Spurs might have the most work ahead of them. They've uncovered some intriguing young players, but they don't have anyone on par with Cade Cunningham, LaMelo Ball or even Jalen Green," Bleacher Report writes

While the team hopes it can find that in the draft, there are alternate avenues to find the player worth building around. Among those who make sense for the Spurs that could be available is Portland Trail Blazers guard Shaedon Sharpe.

"So, if the Spurs trade for anything other than draft picks this offseason, they need to find up-and-comers with skyscraping ceilings," Bleacher Report writes. "That's the appeal of Shaedon Sharpe, whose game needs polish but keeps highlight reels spinning with his anti-gravity bounce."

But why would the Blazers trade away Sharpe, the No. 7 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft

"If the Portland Trail Blazers make an aggressive move to put more win-now talent around Damian Lillard, the Spurs should elbow their way into a three-team deal that routes Sharpe to the Alamo City," Bleacher Report writes.

The Spurs should consider all options, even if it costs them one of their better players in a deal with the Blazers to land Sharpe.

A lot of dominoes need to fall in order to blaze the trail for Sharpe to come to the Spurs, but if it were to happen, San Antonio could grab a player with more upside than anyone currently on the roster.
