3. MONTY WILLIAMS TO PISTONS
A former San Antonio Spurs player has a new job.
According to The Athletic, the Detroit Pistons are finalizing a six-year, $72 million contract with Monty Williams to become their next head coach.
Williams, 51, spent the last four seasons coaching the Phoenix Suns. He made the NBA Finals in 2021 and was named Coach of the Year in 2022 after winning 64 games. However, the Suns failed to make the Western Conference Finals in each of the last two seasons, resulting in the team moving on from him.
4. NBA FINALS GAME 1
Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat, three days removed from winning Game 7 in the Eastern Conference Finals, travel to the Mile High City to face Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets, who haven't played in over 10 days.
Tipoff is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. on ABC.
5. DRAFT COUNTDOWN
The San Antonio Spurs are 21 days away from the 2023 NBA Draft, where Victor Wembanyama will officially become the newest member of the franchise with the No. 1 overall pick.
