San Antonio Spurs vs. Golden State Warriors: 3 Best Bets for In-Season Tournament Clash

In this story:
The San Antonio Spurs hope to break their ten-game losing streak tonight against the Golden State Warriors in San Francisco. The Warriors have lost seven of their last eight, which isn’t as bad as the Spurs have been this season but is embarrassing for any team led by Steph Curry.
Both teams have been making headlines this season: the Spurs have the best rookie in recent memory in Victor Wembanyama, and Draymond Green choked out Rudy Gobert last week.
Needless to say, Green will not be playing tonight, as he is serving a suspension. Gary Payton II is probable, and the Spurs have a clean injury report tonight.
The Warriors are clearly a team on the decline, and the Spurs are a team on the rise. Tonight’s game could be a passing of the torch moment between Curry and Wembanyama, but Curry will be doing anything possible to propel the Warriors to victory.
With the added stakes of the In-Season Tournament (except, not really, since both teams are nearly mathematically eliminated) the stage is set for our three best bets, powered by SI Sportsbook.

Our Picks
Safe pick: Jeremy Sochan OVER 11.5 points (-133)
Jeremy Sochan is not the best point guard in this matchup, but the usually undersized Warriors will have trouble stopping him. Sochan has always been able to drive and hit some midrange shots, but this season he is emerging as a legitimate shooting threat. On the season he is averaging 11 points, but as he gets more comfortable in his new role, he has averaged 13.3 points in his last eight games, and that trend should continue.
Opponent pick: Stephan Curry OVER 5.5 threes made (+110)
This is a recipe for disaster. The Spurs allow the tenth most threes attempted per game and the third most made per game. Against the undisputed greatest shooter of all time, that does not bode well for the Spurs. Curry is averaging 5.2 threes made this season on 44 percent shooting, and only four makes on average in his last five games, but if any team will let him break his cold streak, it’s the Spurs.

Fun pick: Victor Wembanyama to record a double-double (-118)
Wembanyama is coming off a monster 22-and-15 game against the Los Angeles Clippers, so he certainly has the hot hand. He has six double-doubles on the season and is just half a board shy from averaging one on the year. The Warriors are the fifth-best rebounding team in the league but are without Green, so Wembanyama will have less competition down low. His getting ten points is a given, so it all comes down to the rebounds. Being 7-4 helps, and with the shot-happy Warriors not having anyone to prevent them from shooting from deep, Wemby will be able to gobble up some rebounds.
