Kevin Durant Excited to Make Suns Home Debut

The Phoenix Suns are 3-0 with Kevin Durant in the mix. As we approach Durant's first home game at the Footprint Center, Durant said he's excited to play in front of his new fans.

PHOENIX -- It feels like there's been nothing but anticipation since Kevin Durant first landed with the Phoenix Suns

Durant arrived to a team healing from a MCL sprain and wasn't able to play right away. When he was able to play, the Suns were on a three-game road trip last week. Fans soon waited for his first appearance their favorite team's jersey before not having to wait long to see a classic Durant performance.

Durant traded to Phoenix? Check. Durant's debut? Check. Suns fans witnessing their first clutch KD moment? Check.

The next order of business is Durant's home debut in front of 17,000+ at the Footprint Center tonight when the Oklahoma City Thunder come to town.

Durant said he's looking forward to it.

"I'm glad I was able to get a couple on the road to get my feet wet because I know it's going to be loud in there," said Durant at Tuesday's practice. "I'm looking forward to our fans. I know they can't wait to see us out on the floor. I'm looking forward to getting back home for a couple of days."

Durant knows just how strong Suns fans can turn around: He's already experienced it firsthand during his introductory press conference where fans filled the seats of his new home floor and chanted his name during a 30 minute press conference with owner Mat Ishbia and general manager James Jones on his side.

Suns fans will bring the energy tonight. Durant says he and his teammates bring energy to the court.

“I feel like we all bring energy to the game,” he said. “I’m just another guy that’s bringing something different. I’m sure there’s some level of excitement because something new has come into the building, but I’m sure after a while, all that stuff will wear off and get back to normal.”

Perhaps down the line things will feel "normal" again, but the opportunity to see Durant at home for the first time will bring a renewed sense of energy to both the Suns and their fans.
