Two important players for the Phoenix Suns suffered injuries in their preseason game against the Los Angeles Lakers

Cameron Johnson (right thumb sprain) and Cameron Payne (right finger sprain) both were ruled out during the second quarter while the two teams battled in Las Vegas.

Johnson, who was elevated to starter status after the organization moved Jae Crowder to the side, will be counted on as an important part of the organization's plans moving forward. He is currently in contract negotiations with Phoenix.

The Suns also look for Payne to be a prominent presence off the bench whenever Chris Paul isn't on the floor, and with questions surrounding Phoenix's depth heading into the regular season, some of the Suns' success rests on how well Payne can perform.

Phoenix is also missing forward Josh Okogie with a left hamstring strain. Dario Saric and Damion Lee were the main subs for the Suns in their absence.

Johnson played just four minutes and missed the only shot attempt he had with one rebound. Payne played just one minute and grabbed one rebound during his time on the court.

The Suns next preseason game is Monday, Oct. 10 against the Denver Nuggets

We should know more about the respective injuries when Monty Williams speaks following the game.
