Devin Booker Progressing, Will be Reevaluated in One Week

Phoenix Suns shooting guard Devin Booker will be re-evaluated in one week according to the team.

The Phoenix Suns have been without shooting guard Devin Booker since Christmas Day with a groin injury.

There's been hope that he could soon return, as today marks the end of the four week period that the Suns initially set for Booker to be reevaluated after injuring his groin against the Denver Nuggets on Dec. 25. He missed the three games prior to that, too.

The Suns have struggled with injuries all year, but missing their star shooting guard who has hit multiple 50+ point games this season has obviously carried the most weight.

A recent four-game winning streak by the Suns has placed them above .500 with a 25-24 record, and there's hope that a healthy Booker can place them among the top teams in the Western Conference once again.

That won't be happening at least for the next week, however.

Today Phoenix confirmed that Booker is progressing but will still need another week at minimum to recover.

Booker has played in just 29 games thus far but was largely one of the West's top players when healthy, averaging 27.1 points on 47.7% shooting.

The Suns have four games within the next seven days:

Thursday Jan. 26: vs. Dallas

Saturday Jan. 28: at San Antonio

Monday Jan. 30: vs. Toronto

Wednesday Feb. 1: vs. Atlanta

The Suns have been able to rely on guys such as Damion Lee and Saben Lee as of late with Cam Payne and Landry Shamet still injured.

Chris Paul and Cam Johnson have been welcome additions to the lineup, but there's no doubting Booker can take them to the next level upon his return.
