Goran Dragic Shares Robert Sarver Story

The former Suns guard says Sarver was happy to not fork over any additional money to the player after missing the All-Star game.

Goran Dragic played for the Phoenix Suns from 2008-11 (and again from 2012-15), but his memories with the team will stick forever.

Unfortunately, those may not be great ones.

Dragic is a well-respected player across the league, as the Slovenian international player has garnered honors such as NBA Most Improved Player, All-NBA third team and one All-Star appearance.

Dragic nearly saw a second All-Star slot to his name when he was with Phoenix, but ultimately wasn't able to capture it. The All-Star nod would have paid Dragic $1 million, and for obvious reasons, anybody would have been happy to see that happen.

Except Suns owner Robert Sarver.

In a recent episode of the Dvokorak podcast, Dragic spoke on missing the All-Star game and how Sarver reacted to the news.

"He came to the gym and said that he is happy … Actually happy. So I asked him why are you so happy? He told me that it's because he doesn't have to pay me the $1 million bonus," said Dragic (h/t Basketball Network).

"What kind of owner doesn't want his own player to not make the All-Star team? After that I said to myself I really don't see myself being in this place any longer.”

Sarver has been under heavy fire since allegations late last year first emerged on the wild array of workplace misconduct. Since then, the NBA has launched an investigation that is believed to be concluding soon, although there is no clear timetable.
