Suns Skyrocket to Best Odds to Win NBA Title After Durant News
The rumor mill surrounding the Phoenix Suns continues to churn at rampant pace.
For so long, that was dominated by center Deandre Ayton, and while decisions will still need to be made on Phoenix's former No. 1 pick, the Suns now have bigger fish to fry.
For what felt like so long, dreams of landing Brooklyn Nets forward Kevin Durant were nothing more than a bunch of "what if" scenarios. Despite some disgruntled feelings between Kyrie Irving and Brooklyn, Irving's eventual return to the team led many to believe Brooklyn would retain their two most important pieces.
That was until Thursday, when Durant reportedly requested a trade from Brooklyn, firing up all rumors and photoshops of KD in a Suns uniform once again.
ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski confirmed the Suns (along with the Miami Heat) were at the top of Durant's list, and Arizona Sports' John Gambadoro reported the Suns had now shifted their focus to landing the perennial All-Star forward.
It's a true possibility the Suns will land Durant at this moment in time, and even oddsmakers believe Phoenix will get a deal done.
Odds to Win 2022-23 NBA Championship (FanDuel)
Golden State Warriors (+600)
Phoenix Suns (+600)
Los Angeles Clippers (+650)
Milwaukee Bucks (+700)
Boston Celtics (+700)
Miami Heat (+1000)
Time will tell if Durant does truly land with the Suns. In his report, Wojnarowski mentions Brooklyn will send Durant to the team that offers the best package, which does not necessarily mean Durant's preferred destination.
However, it appears Phoenix general manager James Jones is already working on ways to land the superstar in a once in a lifetime opportunity.
