Report: Suns Sale Expected to be Finalized in Next Two Weeks

In this story:
For too long, Robert Sarver has had control of the Phoenix Suns.
Even after the sale of the team for $4 billion to Mat Ishbia was made public, the organization still had to wait for the NBA to go through their vetting process to make everything official.
Now, it appears that will be wrapping up soon.
ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski and Baxter Holmes reports that the sale is expected to be made final within the next two weeks.
"Billionaire mortgage lender Mat Ishbia's purchase of a majority stake in the Phoenix Suns and Phoenix Mercury at a $4 billion valuation is expected to become official in the next two weeks, with Ishbia assuming control prior to the Feb. 9 NBA trade deadline, team and league sources told ESPN."
Though former Suns owner Robert Sarver was suspended by the league in Sept. 2021, Sarver still retained the authority over the signing, acquisition or trade of any player with a salary in excess of the league-wide average player salary, sources said. https://t.co/dG0haSBMQm

The Suns have mostly had difficulty trading Jae Crowder due to some restrictions that saw Sarver still in control thanks to his $10 million salary, which Woj touched on in the above tweet.
Reports came out last week suggesting Ishbia was trying to expedite the process and gain control ahead of the league's trade deadline which is coming in just over two weeks.
The Suns recently emerged to over .500 after dealing with a slew of injuries, and there's hope a trade in getting somebody back for Crowder will help bolster the roster.
Yet Ishbia's presence (and spending) will be vital for the future as Phoenix looks to enter rare luxury tax territory. His actual presence has been spotted at the Footprint Center in recent games, too.
The sale will become final soon, and for a plethora of reasons Ishbia at the helm should bode better for the Suns moving forward.
