Five Free Agents Suns Could Still Sign

The Phoenix Suns appear to be heading into training camp with one open roster spot; is there anyone left in the free agent market worth looking at?

The Suns have seemingly done everything they set out to accomplish this summer, according to team governor Mat Ishbia.

However, the Cam Payne trade to San Antonio opened a roster spot that Bol Bol had filled minutes earlier. That open spot could theoretically be filled between now and the start of the season, and these are some names that could make sense for general manager James Jones to kick the tires on:

Guard Romeo Langford

Langford hasn't quite lived up to the potential many scouts thought he had going into the league in 2019. Despite not reaching his ceiling, he has still yet to turn 24, would presumably sign on a cheap deal, and still has shown enough potential that is worth taking a chance on.

Guard Will Barton

Barton was one of the worst players in the NBA last season according to advanced metrics, but the veteran guard was a positive player on both sides of the ball as recently as the 2021-22 season with Denver.

He wouldn't be asked to play a big role, but has proven to be a good enough ball handler, defender, and shooter to secure a roster spot somewhere.

Guard Hamidou Diallo

Diallo is another relatively young player that could be worth taking a look at. The Kentucky Wildcats product has always been an elite athlete, while also growing every year as a defender as a pro. He certainly could help the Suns' issue with pressuring the rim if the Suns were to show interest.

Forward Derrick Jones Jr.

Derrick Jones was a member of the Suns during the 2016-17 season. He could bring similar things that Diallo would as a freak athlete and solid finisher. This may be the best signing the team could make out of this group.

Forward Justice Winslow

Winslow unfortunately never panned out as expected, but still offers enough, especially as an athlete and defender to be worth kicking the tires on as an end-of-the bench option.
