Inside The Suns

Suns Forward Kevin Durant, Charles Barkley Beef Isn't Going Anywhere

Both are NBA legends and shared the court with the Phoenix Suns, but Kevin Durant and Charles Barkley simply aren't going to be best friends anytime soon.

Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant is one of the rare athletes in the world of professional sports.

Durant's combination of length, athleticism and overall IQ makes him one of the best players on the planet - some are already hearing arguments about his placement among NBA greats.

Yet Durant shines in other ways, most notably making his true opinion/thoughts heard when most would keep to themselves. He's yet to say anything controversial (yet who knows with the burner accounts) but is very active on social media platforms and is involved in the media/podcast world while still handling business on the court.

NBA legend Charles Barkley made that transition after his playing days, currently sitting on the desk as an analyst on the NBA on TNT set. Barkley himself doesn't hold back with his opinion, which has sometimes pinned Durant in negative light.

The two have locked horns on more than one occasion, and while Durant didn't exactly extend the olive branch this week as the Suns prepare for their first-round meeting with the Los Angeles Clippers, he did concede that they did have some things in common.

“We both played ball, both played in the NBA, both superstar caliber players,” Durant said at practice earlier this week.

“I’m sure we can relate on a lot of things in life. We’ve accomplished and experienced the same things in this league. I wouldn’t say we’re not on the same page. We may disagree on some stuff, but you watch TNT, those guys disagree every day, but to the core of it, we’re all ball players and we’ve been through the journey as ball players and I’d say we’re on the same page already.”

Can the best friends unite and squash things over?

“I probably wouldn’t sit down with Charles to be honest,” Durant added.
