Suns Seek to Handle Struggling Spurs

The Phoenix Suns (15-7) enter San Antonio to take on a struggling Spurs squad this afternoon. San Antonio has lost their last ten games and have won just one of their last 16 games.

The two teams are on vastly different sides of the competitive spectrum, as the first-place Suns aim to squeeze everything possible out of their championship window. The Spurs currently sit at the bottom of the West in what is very much a rebuild.

Phoenix hopes to avoid back to back losses for just the second time all season after losing a 16-point lead in their 122-121 loss to Houston on Friday.

"When you lose by one point, there’s a lot that contributes to that. When you let a team get 20+ second chance points and you give up 41 free throws, that’s what they do, that’s what we said before the game," said Monty Williams after the loss.

"They crash the glass to get second chance points and they get to the line; they executed their game plan perfectly. Our force to keep them off the glass and keep them out of our paint just wasn’t there, we had to go to a switching defense at the end and that helped us a little bit, but you have to give them credit, they executed their game plan.”

On the injury front, Torrey Craig will miss his second game with a groin injury. Dario Saric started in his place with Ish Wainright following his spot.

Chris Paul and Cam Johnson remain out. Mikal Bridges, who exited the game with a right knee injury, is probable.

The Suns are 9.5-point favorites on SI Sportsbook and game time is at 2:00 p.m. Arizona time. Phoenix has won their last six games against San Antonio.
