PHOENIX -- The Phoenix Suns initially ruled Devin Booker doubtful for tonight's matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder, which will mark his eighth game missed of the 2023-24 season.

When healthy, Booker has played fairly well averaging 31.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 10.5 assists in the two contests he's played.

First dealing with a toe injury in preseason, Booker sprained his ankle in the season opener against the Golden State Warriors before straining his calf after playing the San Antonio Spurs

“He makes this thing go," said Kevin Durant after the loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. "Without him, we can’t go where we want to go. He puts so much pressure on defenses and guards one through four. We miss him and we can’t wait to have him back. I know he is chomping at the bit but it takes time to get healthy.”

Booker's been in and out of the lineup thus far, but Suns coach Frank Vogel says his star guard

“He’s doing some light shooting, got a little bit into our team drill work. So getting closer," Vogel said ahead of Sunday.

Earlier this week, The Athletic's NBA insider Shams Charania reported Booker was expected to return at any point during Phoenix's homestand, which ends on Wednesday with the Minnesota Timberwolves coming to town.

"I'm told there's optimism Devin Booker will also return to the Suns' lineup potentially as soon as Friday. The Suns have a three-game homestand - Friday against the Lakers, Sunday against the Thunder and then next Wednesday against the Timberwolves," said Charania.

"So finally, all three of the Suns' vaunted big three of Kevin Durant, Bradley Beal, Devin Booker seem to be on the cusp of getting on the court together. That's what we've been waiting for, is seeing how this team gels with those three in the lineup."

He likely won't appear tonight vs. Oklahoma City, though it's clear the Suns are confident in him returning rather soon.
