PHOENIX -- The Kevin Durant era for the Phoenix Suns got off to a swell start, but nearly instantly stopped dead in its tracks.

Durant was warming up for his home debut at the Footprint Center before spraining his ankle and ultimately missing the team's win over the Oklahoma City Thunder. Durant - who was spotted on the trainer's table by players such as Chris Paul and Devin Booker - was not on the bench during the game and was reportedly seen in a walking boot afterwards.

Earlier today, The Arizona Republic reported Durant could potentially miss the rest of the season with what was described to be a Grade 2 ankle sprain. The Suns have 16 games left in the regular season.

Now, NBA insider Shams Charania says Durant will be re-evaluated in two weeks. He says the swelling has gone down in Durant's left ankle.

Durant slipped during warm-ups but managed to finish his workout with no issues, so it was quite the surprise to see he was legitimately hurt.

Charania also added in a later tweet that, "The Suns and Durant are hopeful of progress during the re-evaluation window that allows for the 13-time All-Star to return to action shortly after two weeks, sources said. Good news for KD and Phoenix following scary fall in warmups."

The Suns were 3-0 with Durant on the floor after he recovered from a MCL sprain suffered in early January. Phoenix is 37-29 and will return to action on Saturday against the Sacramento Kings
