Social Media Criticizes Suns-Mavericks Officiating

In this story:
The Phoenix Suns have now lost consecutive games for the first time this postseason, as the Dallas Mavericks emerged victorious in both home games to even the series at 2-2.
The Suns now search for answers after a rough stretch in Dallas that saw the Mavericks convert baskets at a blistering rate, with fingers of blame pointed in almost every direction.
Phoenix's bench has yet to truly make an impact, while turnovers and lack of perimeter defense have plagued the Suns during their losing streak.
Yet most topics of discussion revolve around the NBA's officiating in Games 3 and 4, with many feeling as if the Suns haven't gotten a fair shake when it comes to blowing the whistle.

Following Game 4, Suns guard Chris Paul was at the center of attention after fouling out for the fourth time in his playoff career. His four personal fouls at halftime was the first time ever Paul amassed that amount prior to the break.
Ayooo what CP3 do to get these calls tonight😂😂😂

Listen the Suns didn't play well today, but to act as if the refs had nothing to do with how this game played out is disingenuous. You can't call 19 fouls on Suns starters & foul out CP3 the way they did and pretend it didn't play a huge part in the outcome. That's ridiculous! 🤯

All you need to know: Chris Paul: 6 fouls, 5 points. NBA wants LUKA, LUKA, LUKA to save the ratings day.

Chris Paul fouled out of a game in 23 minutes! That’s a first for an all time great that I have seen! Officials are losing the battle to interpret fouls because of the flopping on both sides and are too focused in on inadvertent elbows so they can run to a monitor! @NBA

Sunday saw five different players for Phoenix end with four or more fouls: Devin Booker, Jae Crowder, Mikal Bridges, Javale McGee and Paul.
Luka Doncic was the only Dallas player to have four fouls, as much of the conversation centered around his ability to sell calls to the officials.
Flop might be the more recognizable term.
Luka is my guy, but he’s flopping like a fish outta water. This is ridiculous. #NBAPlayoffs #SunsVsMavs

Doncic is gonna damage the floor with his flopping.
— Vince Marotta (@Vincemarotta) May 8, 2022
Some would say Doncic is merely perfecting the craft Paul originated.
Suns fans: “LUKA DONCIC IS THE BIGGEST FLOPPER OF ALL TIME”
— Mavsketball (@Mavsketball41) May 8, 2022
Richard Jefferson on the broadcast, who actually played against CP3: “Luka with a Chris Paul-like play there to draw that foul before the half. Paul is one of the best all time at that [flopping]”
😂pot, meet kettle😂
Luka is using Chris Paul’s own medicine against him with the flopping.
— Guru (@DrGuru_) May 8, 2022
I love it 😭
Suns/ Chris Paul fans calling Luka a flopper is peak irony with all due respect

The overall scope of officiating wasn't off the hook, either. Despite the Suns shooting one less free throw and just four more personal fouls, many around the league feel as if the NBA needs to intervene.
It’s games like these that make people question the NBA. What the hell did I just watch today?
— Alan Hahn (@alanhahn) May 8, 2022
This is embarrassing for the league
— Haralabos Voulgaris (@haralabob) May 8, 2022
This is the worst officiated and flopped game I’ve ever seen. Never seen anything like it… what a disaster for the league.
— Doug Gottlieb (@GottliebShow) May 8, 2022
League needs a F46M report from this Dallas-Phoenix game.
— John Hollinger (@johnhollinger) May 8, 2022
Time will tell if Game 5 is different, yet the overall feeling for the Suns is significantly worse thanks to their two-game stay in Dallas.
Phoenix was hoping for a quick and easy series. The Mavericks are intent on winning despite being vast underdogs. The NBA is all for however much drama is created as a result.
