Oklahoma City General Manager Sam Presti has not been hesitant to make trades on draft night.

When Presti has his eyes on a prospect, the Thunder GM will stop at almost nothing to ensure that said player ends up in the Modern Frontier. In each of the past four drafts, Presti has put this into practice, sliding around the draft board to reel in whoever he deems as a "Thunder guy".

Last season, OKC held picks No. 2, No. 12, No. 30 and No. 34, selecting Peyton Watson at 30 before sending him to Denver in return for JaMychal Green and a 2027 first round pick. Green was waived by the Thunder shortly after and ended up spending the 2022-23 season with the Golden State Warriors

Prior to its trade for Green, Oklahoma City sent three future first round picks to New York in exchange for the No. 11 pick in the 2022 draft, which the team used to select developmental wing Ousmane Dieng.

In 2021, OKC selected Alphren Sengun out of Turkey at pick No. 16 for the Houston Rockets, trading the 19-year-old to Houston for two future first round picks. In the second round of the same draft, the Thunder traded Rokas Jokubaitis and Miles McBride to the Knicks in return for Jeremiah Robinson-Earl, who New York selected with the 32nd overall pick.

In the 2020 draft, Oklahoma City traded away both of the players in selected, sending Immanuel Quickley to the Knicks and Cassius Winston to the Wizards. The Thunder utilized a three-team trade to get Aleksej Pokusevski, who was originally selected by Minnesota to OKC in the same draft.

The 2019 NBA Draft saw Oklahoma City select Brandon Clarke for the Memphis Grizzlies as part of a trade that brought Darius Bazley to the Modern Frontier.

With so many future first round picks at the Thunder's disposal and a limited amount of space on the roster, many believe that OKC may be in the market to move up in the draft again this month.
