Former Thunder Wing Released by Atlanta Hawks

In this story:
The Atlanta Hawks have released Vit Krejci, a former Oklahoma City Thunder wing. The 2020 second-round pick will be looking for a new home ahead of the 2023-24 NBA season.
The 23-year-old played his first season with the Thunder, playing an average of 23 minutes per game in 30 appearances and eight starts. He averaged 6.2 points per game, 3.4 rebounds per game and 1.9 assists per game.
Krejci's first NBA season played, the 2021-22 season, came after he was healing from an ACL injury. He missed his first season post-draft rehabbing and recovering, preparing for his NBA debut.
Ahead of last season, Krejci was traded from the Thunder to the Hawks ahead of the season. The move helped the Hawks shave off salary and the Thunder gave Krejci an opportunity as they were trimming the roster.
The 6-foot-8 wing played in 29 games with the Hawks, playing an average of 5.7 minutes per game. He averaged just 1.2 points per game, 0.9 rebounds per game and 0.6 assists per game on 40 percent shooting from the field.
Krejci and the Hawks earned the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference, where they took on the Boston Celtics in the first round of the NBA playoffs, getting bounced early.
Ahead of the season, the Hawks were doing housekeeping, trimming their number of standard rostered players to 15. Krejci, having a non-guaranteed roster, provided the team with an easy direction to take.
Evidently, the NBA's new rule to allow three two-way players per roster may benefit Krejci. He is eligible to sign a two-way contract, and the swingman could provide a viable option to a plethora of teams that are looking to fill in the extra roster spots they get to use.
The former Thunder wing now has the opportunity to find that next opportunity ahead of training camp to get established with a new team if he gets picked up.
