Steve Kerr Reveals Reason for Very Controversial Decision in Kings vs. Warriors

The Golden State Warriors did not call a timeout, and Steph Curry turned the ball over

With a chance to win the game on their final possession vs. the Sacramento Kings on Thursday night, the Golden State Warriors did not use their final timeout, and ended the game on a Steph Curry turnover. When asked after the game why he did not call a timeout, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said he prefers the scramble situation in those moments.

"These guys have been together for so long," Kerr said. "I really prefer the scramble situation at the end of games where the defense can't get set up and make subs. So this is one that it keeps you up at night... We got the Steph-Draymond pick and roll at the top, we had good spacing, I thought maybe we were going to get Draymond on the roll with the spacing on either side and get a good shot, because they doubled Steph, but he just couldn't get it to Draymond in that situation. They did a good job doubling him. When the play is over you're like, 'Yeah. Could have taken a timeout.' It's always a difficult decision down the stretch, but I've seen those guys convert in that situation a million times."

As Kerr admitted, he probably could have taken a timeout there, which seemed like the better option with how Sacramento defended Curry. The play ended in a turnover and another loss for Golden State.
