Warriors Champion Shares Harsh Truth for Jonathan Kuminga

The Golden State Warriors are stuck between trying to contend for a championship while also positioning for their post-dynasty era. While management has shifted a bit from the two-timeline plan that was very much still in effect last season, there is still a balancing act being done by the organization to preserve their youth and title window at the same time.

This is a very hard needle to thread, and the Warriors are finding that out the hard way, currently sitting outside of the play-in picture. During a recent podcast episode, Warriors champion Andrew Bogut shared a harsh truth for Jonathan Kuminga, one of Golden State's young players who is impacted by their current situation.

"It's such a hard art form to try to develop young guys but also try to win games at the same time," Bogut said. "Not many teams can do that. Kuminga is a guy that is super athletic, can get his nose above the rim, but he's a guy that needs the ball in his hands... You have Steph Curry next to you, you're not taking his touches. Klay is still Klay, regardless. Then you have [Chris Paul] off the bench... Where do you think you're going to fit in Kuminga?"

Bogut added that players can get a lot of easy baskets just by cutting and being ready to play off Curry and Thompson, and said Kuminga needs to go and find those buckets himself as opposed to wanting Steve Kerr to run more plays for him.
