Bears' Forte, Urlacher not pleased with limited playing time

The job share at running back between Matt Forte and Michael Bush seemed to work very effectively in the opener, a 41-21 lashing of the Indianapolis Colts.

To everyone but Forte himself, apparently.

Forte sounded less than thrilled about losing two short-range scoring chances to Bush, who had converted 13 of 19 rushes from two yards or less last season.

"It's been happening my whole career here, so I don't know," Forte said, telling reporters the decision is offensive coordinator Mike Tice's to make.

Forte picked up 80 yards on 16 carries for a 5.0-yard average, including a six-yard touchdown run, and he caught three passes for 40 yards.

Bush had 42 yards on 12 carries for a 3.5-yard average and scored twice on 1-yard runs. The first was set up by a 15-yard burst from Forte that gave Chicago a first-and-goal at the 1.

Forte wasn't the only unhappy Bears player after the win. Middle linebacker Brian Urlacher didn't like that his playing time was limited in the third quarter and then was held out entirely in the fourth quarter. He missed only 14 snaps the entire 2011 season but was barely on the field in training camp and had surgery on his knee in August.

"I wanted to get back out there the whole time," he said. "I was excited. We made a lot of plays on defense. It was just fun. I would rather be in there. But it was fun to watch our defense play like that."

The Bears announced roster moves on Monday. They signed tackle Jonathan Scott, and waived kicker Ryan Quigley.

The team reinstated defensive tackle Nate Collins, and signed tight end Dedrick Epps to the practice squad.

Scott has started 28 of 58 games played for the Detroit Lions, Buffalo Bills and Pittsburgh Steelers. Epps appeared in three games for the Miami Dolphins in 2010 and has logged time on the practice squads of San Diego, Indianapolis and the New York Jets.
